It stood out among all the others town during the period of Vespro and when Federico Barbarossa made his wars of conquest."Naro the happiest" is the home of churches, saints, famous men and romantic legends.
In Naro lived Earl Gaetani in thè XIV century. The Gaetanis was a large family with a noble tradition and it was related to the most prestigious families of Sicily, such as the Angios of Villabianca and the Tomasis of Lampedusa.
It was the seat of the kingdom of Bianca di Navarra, that became later the kingdom of Chiaramonte. In 1645 two Universities were founded in Naro and it was for the town a period of highest political and cultural growth.
